The City of Kentwood Parks and Recreation department is hiring a part-time Senior Fitness Instructor to lead senior participants (ages 50+) in group fitness classes to improve balance, strength, and endurance. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Leads senior participants (ages 50+) in group fitness and/or wellness classes.
  • Demonstrates correct form, posture, and alignment.
  • Follows safety standards.
  • Knowledgeable of current fitness trends.
  • Provides encouragement and motivation to program participants.
  • Exhibits dependability and punctuality.
  • Maintains attendance records and other applicable forms.
  • Responsible for all equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective environment.

Qualified applicants will have the following:

  • Have a high school diploma/GED.
  • Group fitness certifications.
  • One (1) year of experience instructing group fitness classes; OR
  • One (1) year of experience working directly with seniors (ages 50+).

Instructors typically work three hours per week, each class class is 45-60 minutes long. Classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. The pay rate for this position is $25.00 per hour. For more details, please see the full Job Description.
